Again, Issa misses the opportunity to say and do something constructive and instead launches a purely partisan attack on Democrats. It’s amazing how a guy that is probably a multi-millionaire, with a great medical insurance program available to him as a member of Congress, finds a way to rationalize voting against a program for medical insurance for poor and middle class children of parents who can not afford to get medical insurance.

He decries the Democrats “miserable way of starting off the new year when our economic and security challenges demand real leadership.” Instead of him providing any leadership about SCHIP, about the economy, or about ending the war, he spends his time writing his partisan op-ed piece and trying to subvert and weaken the way California casts its electoral vote for President. What do you think?

Issa and his fellow neo-liberals have provided ‘leadership’ for nearly seven years – in the house, the senate, the administration, and through the appointment of justices.
Did this leadership by the Republican Party produce security, great economic growth and a period of prosperity? Did his party’s leadership provide the means for the wealthiest country in the world to provide health care to its weakest and most vulnerable natural resource, children?
Issa’s leadership is the kind that sends tens of thousands of contractors to wage war in Iraq and then acts to subvert any questions raised by their widows – wives, mothers and children.
Even Issa’s own party does not want his form of ‘leadership’ – as his failed attempt to join the House Republican Policy Committee confirms.
Issa could do worse than heed his own infernal car alarms in siding so closely to Cheney and Bush – “Warning, you are too close…”
